At the beginning of February, Movetia and Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) signed a general cooperation agreement regarding an exchange of language/conversation assistants between Belgium and Switzerland.

The agreement will initially focus on the reception of French-speaking assistants from Belgium in Switzerland and German-speaking assistants in Wallonia. The agreement may be extended to the Italian-speaking region in a second phase.

Through this agreement, Movetia is expanding the network of its Language Assistant Programme and strengthening its ties with Belgium to afford actors in the Swiss education system further exchange and mobility opportunities.

This is the second such agreement signed with another country after Spain. A project is also in the pipeline with Ireland. Collaboration with other countries (Germany, Austria, France, UK) is being handled directly by partner organisations for the time being.

The Language Assistant Programme has a great deal of potential and offers a wealth of advantages for candidates, students, schools, higher education institutions and for Switzerland within the scope of its international cooperation in education. Movetia is counting on greater commitment and support from the cantons and from schools in future.
