No fewer than 450 students in the second year of their Bachelor’s degree have been selected to do an exchange year in one of the EPFL partner universities in 2019/20. Of those students, 350 will be leaving for an institution in Europe within the framework of a Swiss European Mobility Programme (SEMP) agreement.

Each year, the Mobility (Student Exchange) Office of the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne) organises an evening specifically for the students who will be going on an exchange the following academic year. The gathering began with a speech by the Vice-President for Education, Professor Pierre Vandergheynst, who congratulated the guests on their selection and encouraged them in their role as ambassadors of the EPFL at the partner institutions. Having completed an exchange himself during his student years, he was able to speak to them on a personal level and urged them to take full advantage of this rewarding experience.

The event then continued with drinks, over which the students heading for the same destination had the opportunity to meet each other and discuss their mobility project. A few students from partner universities were also there to meet the students planning to leave and answer their questions.

Movetia supports the EPFL Mobility Office in everything concerning the SEMP. During the 2017/18 academic year, as far as mobilities for study purposes are concerned, the national agency counted 256 outgoing mobilities and 488 incoming mobilities organised by the EPFL.
