Besides Strategic Partnerships, there are two possible ways for Swiss institutions to participate in Knowledge Alliances as Key Action 2 cooperation projects: As official partners within the Erasmus+ programme or as associated partners within the framework of the Swiss programme for Erasmus+.

However, both options are subject to limitations, as Swiss institutions can participate to Erasmus+ cooperation projects as a partner country only.

For further information or details on the eligibility criteria, please refer to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.

Knowledge Alliances (centralised projects)

A Swiss institution wishing to participate as an official partner should pay attention to the following:

  • A Swiss institution must bring an essential added value to the project. This aspect is crucial and must be considered in the application.
  • A Swiss institution cannot coordinate a Knowledge Alliance.
  • A minimum of 6 additional participating institutions are required for a Knowledge Alliance.
  • The application has to be submitted by a European coordinator to the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in Brussels.
  • If a project is selected for funding, the Swiss institution officially participating will receive EU funding. The Swiss institution is not eligible for additional Swiss funding.
  • European application deadline: 28th February 2019.
  • For further information, please refer to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.

A Swiss institution wishing to participate as an associated partner (in the framework of the Swiss Programme for Erasmus+) should pay attention to the following:

  • A Swiss institution can receive funding as an associated partner in a Knowledge Alliance given the fact the project was selected for funding by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in Brussels.
  • The Swiss institution participating in the Knowledge Alliance has to be mentioned in the official European application even though it is not an official partner, and its role and activities clearly described.
  • In order for their application to be successful, Swiss institutions have to explain in what way their participation in the project contributes to achieving the goals of Swiss education policy both at federal and cantonal level.
  • The application has to be submitted by e-mail to Movetia by 7th March 2019.
  • For further information, please refer to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide.

Preparatory visits
