The Swiss Programme for Erasmus+ offers financial support for projects that help establish international networks and improve quality in the Swiss education system.

The programme encourages Swiss schools from pre-school to upper secondary school to develop international networks, offer teachers further training opportunities abroad and afford students valuable exchange experiences.

In addition, support is offered to organisations working in school education to help with international cooperation projects with partner organisations.

What types of projects are supported in the field of school education?

Mobility

  • Mobility projects allow teachers and other school staff to develop their professional skills through in-service training/courses, job shadowing and teaching activities in other European countries. Pupils can undertake individual or group learning stays in Europe. Learning stays by European students in Switzerland are also supported. It is also possible to select Invited Experts (external specialists) and ask them to visit Swiss institutions.

Cooperation

  • Cooperation partnerships promote cooperation between institutions to support innovation and improve the quality of school education in Europe.

Who can coordinate projects?

Mobility projects can be coordinated by schools based in Switzerland. A project can also include participants from several schools. In this case one school or an institution working in the field of school education is in charge of coordinating all the institutions involved.

Cooperation partnerships can only be coordinated by institutions based in an Erasmus+ programme country. Presumably, institutions based in Switzerland will be able to participate as partner.

Preparatory visits

Staff from schools or other organisations working in school education can apply for financial support to visit future partner organisations before submitting a project, to establish contacts for joint projects or to prepare projects with partners. Participation in a contact seminar or international conference for networking purposes with a view to a joint mobility or cooperation project can also receive funding.
