The Science, Education and Culture Committee of the National Council has gathered information on Switzerland’s participation status in Erasmus+.

On 24th March, the Science, Education and Culture Committee of the National Council (SECC-NC) held a hearing on the future participation status of Switzerland in the European exchange programme Erasmus+. The current Swiss interim solution for Erasmus+ expires at the end of 2017. The Federal Council and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI had, until recently, declared themselves in favour of re-association. However, in February they announced unexpectedly that the interim solution is to be continued. In April, the Federal Council adopted the relevant dispatch. The decision now lies with Parliament.

As national agency responsible for implementing the interim solution for Erasmus+, Movetia was heard by the Committee. It informed the Committee about the requirements of Switzerland as a partner country and about the differences compared with full association. Following the hearing, at the request of the Committee, Movetia also drew up a list of all projects and project promoters that were supported between 2014 and 2016 within the framework of the Swiss interim solution for Erasmus+. The list includes the following levels: vocational education, university-level education, youth, school education and adult education.
