How mobile are Swiss students? And what about higher education staff?

Switzerland has been participating in the successful exchange programme since 1992, temporarily through a parallel funding system. Swiss students can still spend a semester abroad or do an internship in another European country with the Swiss-European Mobility Programme SEMP.

But it is not only students who have the opportunity to broaden their skills in another country. All university staff have benefitted from European cooperation between higher education institutions since 1997. They can attend a partner university for a teaching assignment or to undertake continuing professional development.

To mark the 30th anniversary, we have compiled data on Swiss mobility activities since 1992, and on the colourful history that Switzerland shares with the European education programme.

This has resulted in the statistical publication:

1987-2017: 30 years of Erasmus. Erasmus mobility in Switzerland. (FR)
