Does your project take place in Switzerland or is it a bilateral project abroad?
In that case, the Swiss project partner submits the application to Movetia and requests funding for all participating partner organisations. The application is submitted via the online tool (Name of the form: Swiss Programme for Erasmus+ - Youth in Action).

Would you like to take part in an Erasmus+ project abroad?
In that case, a partner organisation in another European country submits the application to the relevant National Agency for Erasmus+. The Swiss organisation is not mentioned in this application but, simultaneously, applies to Movetia for funding for participants from Switzerland. The application is submitted via the online tool (Name of the form: Participation in a project Erasmus+ - Youth in Action).

What organisations can submit projects?

  • Charitable organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
  • Public-sector bodies at local, regional or national level
  • Social enterprises
  • Umbrella organisations, regional associations
  • Companies active in the Corporate Social Responsibility sector

The applicant organisation must be based in Switzerland. 
At least two organisations from different countries must take part.
 

With which countries is cooperation possible?

For the project formats youth exchange, mobility for youth workers and youth and politics, cooperation with partner organizations from all over the world is possible from 2023. The list of program countries including the classification into the different categories for travel and accommodation allowances can be viewed here.

For the EVS program as well as for projects approved before 2023 in the framework of Youth in Action, collaboration is only possible with partner organizations from the following countries: 

Programme countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Northern Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom.

Neighbouring partner countries: Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Moldavia, Montenegro, Morocco, Russia, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine.
 

According to which criteria will applications be assessed?

Exclusion and selection criteria
Applicants are checked for compliance with the contents of the declaration of honour and are excluded from funding if they violate the contents of this declaration. The declaration of honour is part of the application and contains statements on the applicant's financial and operational capacity for the project and compliance with Swiss legal requirements.

Furthermore, no support is granted for projects which:

  • promote racist, xenophobic or anti-semitic ideologies, or discrimination against minorities;
  • impact negatively on gender equality;
  • have content-related or organisational ties to extremist organisations;
  • incite or glorify violence; are conducted by sects or sect-like organisations (in our analysis, we rely on information from relinfo.ch and infosekta.ch for the assessment of possible controversies)

Eligibility criteria
Depending on which project format is involved, the criteria may vary. You will find the specific formal criteria (details regarding duration of the activity, age of the participants, etc.) on the following pages:

Award criteria (quality check)
All project proposals are examined with regard to quality and marked according to a points system: 

1. Relevance of the project 

  • The project takes into account the objectives of Youth in Action and the needs and aims of the participating organisations and people.
  • The project leads to high-quality learning experiences for the participants and strengthens the international skills and reach of the participating organisations.
  • The project involves people with fewer opportunities.

 2. Quality of the project planning 

  • All phases of the project are clear and planned in full.
  • The planned activities correspond to the objectives of the project.
  • Methods of non-formal education are applied.
  • The measures for selecting and preparing the participants are appropriate.

3. Effect of the project and dissemination of the results 

  • Appropriate measures are planned to evaluate the project.
  • The project has a positive effect on the participants and on the organisations involved, their networks and those associated with them at local and national levels.
  • Appropriate measures are planned to disseminate the results of the project within and outside of the participating organisations.

What funding do the projects receive?

As a general principle, funding is effected in flat-rate contributions (allowances). For the detailed list and explanation of the contributions, please see the Overview of Grants.
