6 - 8 November

swissnex India / Boston and Movetia are organising the “nexHack edtech” - a virtual Hackathon to develop edtech-solutions relating to two challenges in the field of international education. The Hackathon will take place from 6 - 8 November 2020 and we’re looking for anyone with ideas and an interest in international education to join us individually or as a pre-formed team for this international, 48h-Hackathon.

NexHack Edtech brings together young talents from all backgrounds in Switzerland, India, China, Brazil and the United States (and beyond!) to spark new ideas for Swiss Higher Education. The Hackathon is organised by swissnex India in collaboration with swissnex Boston. As an outpost of the Swiss State Secretariat for Education Research and Innovation (SERI), they are invested in reinventing the future of learning.

Two challenges

1) “Connecting the local & global” and 2) “International digital Learning Spaces”. In the first one we are searching for solutions to integrate international students in Switzerland. In the second one you should propose a digital solution that consider how virtual cooperation and mobility contribute to creating high-quality learning experience based on international interaction and exchange. Learn more about the challenges on the swissnex website.

Organisation

During the hack, teams will work together across time zones and regions, using a variety of digital tools like Zoom, Google Drive, Whatsapp, and Slack. Scheduled events will take place online between 14h-18h Swiss time on 6-8 November. That’s 8h-12h in Boston, 17:30h-21:30h in India and 20h-00h in Shanghai. Outside of these time slots, teams are free to organise themselves.

You do not need technical skills to apply. We’re looking for you and your unique skills to help us drive innovation for #LearningTomorrow. All you need to join are a laptop with a webcam, internet connection, and big ideas.

The website of swissnex India will provide you with plenty of reasons to participate, the registration link and the participation details. The winning team will receive vouchers to attend a summer or winter school at a Swiss university, and the top teams with the most promising idea and prototype will have an opportunity to apply for seed-funding (up to CHF 15’000.-) with Movetia.
